Our Story

In the summer of 2012, a group of leaders from churches across Knoxville, TN gathered to learn about the trafficking of our children in our state and across our nation. Street Grace of Atlanta exposed the church community of Knoxville to the evil of DMST (Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking) and the urgent need for a faith-driven response. Believing that, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit,” (Psalm 34:18) we entered into a season of prayer and collaboration, asking God to show us how we could join in standing for those close to His heart.

During our first years together, Street Grace walked alongside us in first steps to raising awareness about DMST in East Tennessee. In 2014, we established an official board and moved towards creation of an independent organization called Street Hope TN. Passionate individuals came together, motivated by faith that no life is beyond the reach of God’s heart or His healing. The goal is to extend the reach of Street Hope TN from its beginnings in Knoxville to all of Tennessee.

Our Mission

Our mission is to eliminate the sexual exploitation and trafficking of children and provide safe environments
to foster healing and hope through Jesus Christ.

Prayer

We believe prayer is a powerful tool in fighting DMST. As we commit to focus on restoration of minor sex trafficking victims, we are frequently reminded that this can only be done through regular prayer and seeking His heart with each step.

Restoration

Providing a holistic, Christ-centered restorative approach – physically, spiritually and emotionally.

Our Beliefs & Values

We believe there is no life too broken to be healed by God. Every life has value, and each person, victim or perpetrator, “may abound in hope” (Romans 15:13). Our confidence in this divine plan inspires our action in response to Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking.
We are followers of Jesus Christ and embrace the Biblical mandate to care for the oppressed, orphan, broken and hurting, and we believe that it is the responsibility of the church and all believers to speak up and fight for those that cannot speak or fight for themselves.
We believe all children are significantly valued and loved by God, and that Jesus Christ is the only One who can heal and restore.
We believe that the source and demand (pornography, sex addiction) must be eliminated to see an end to child sexual exploitation.
We believe that children must be provided a safe place in order to heal and find hope again.
We believe that the fight against DMST begins with bringing awareness to the issue within our churches, schools, and community, and equipping them with tools to prevent the commercial sexual exploitation of children.
Street Hope TN's statement of faith is comprehensively reflected in the Lausanne Covenant.
